When it comes to Halloween recipes, many of us tend to lean towards orangey dishes involving pumpkin or vibrant candies. But did you know pasta can take on a spooky twist too? This weekend, I tried a delicious recipe that I have to say is one I recommend. Allow me to introduce you to my favourite “Spooky Black Pasta Delight.”
And if you’re keen on this dish, follow the recipe below to create your very own bewitching culinary experience at home that’s perfect for Halloween.
Ingredients
30 grams of black pasta
2 cloves of garlic, minced or sliced
1 – 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Peeled Prawn/s (with head and tail intact. Use as many prawns as you want)
Red chilli slices and fresh parsley for garnish
COOKING METHOD
- Prepare the prawns. In a separate skillet, heat some olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the prawns with heads intact and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn pink and opaque. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside
- Cook the black pasta according to the package instructions until al dente – or to your liking texture
- While the pasta is cooking, in a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until it becomes fragrant but not browned.
- Add the cooked black pasta to the skillet with garlic and olive oil, and toss until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Serve the Halloween black pasta on a black plate with black cutlery for a goth-inspired look. Garnish with red chilli slices and fresh parsley. Place the cooked prawns on the side for that extra eerie effect.
Simple Dessert To Go A long
For a refreshing twist, I opted for a piece of ripe papaya. Its vibrant orange flesh and stark black seeds provided a striking visual contrast, perfectly in tune with the Halloween theme. This tropical fruit not only adds a burst of natural sweetness but also serves as a delightful palate cleanser after the rich flavours of the black pasta. The interplay of colours and flavours creates a memorable culinary experience, making this papaya a surprisingly fitting addition to our Halloween feast.
Make It More Spooky
For an even more elegant but spooky appearance, consider enhancing the dish’s presentation by scattering black rose petals around the plate. Black roses are known for their mystique and allure, adding a touch of dark elegance to your Halloween-themed meal.
